Legal and Compliance Counsel - KL Eco City
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Legal and Compliance Counsel to support the legal and regulatory affairs needs of our logistics and parcel delivery operations across Malaysia. This role combines legal advisory, compliance oversight, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring that the company operates within the boundaries of applicable laws while building constructive relationships with regulators and relevant government agencies.
You will work closely with two other legal counsels and report directly to the Head of Legal, Compliance & Government Affairs, supporting a broad range of legal and operational matters in our fast-paced logistics and parcel delivery business.
Key Responsibilities
Legal
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including service contracts, procurement agreements, logistics partnerships, NDAs, and other related contracts.
- Provide day-to-day legal advice to internal stakeholders on business operations, regulatory risk, and contract management.
- Support contract lifecycle management and ensure proper documentation and storage of signed agreements.
- Assist in handling disputes, customer or vendor claims, and coordination with external legal counsel if required.
- Support corporate governance and secretarial matters such as board resolutions, license renewals, and statutory filings.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements, including transport licensing, PDPA, anti-corruption laws, and employment legislation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies, SOPs, and training for staff.
- Conduct periodic compliance assessments and support internal audits.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the logistics and courier industry.
Government Affairs
- Act as a liaison with government authorities such as MOT, MCMC, and customs.
- Track regulatory developments and maintain strong relationships with regulators and industry associations.
- Prepare and coordinate regulatory submissions, license renewals, and official correspondences.
- Represent the company in industry working groups or consultations when required.
Requirements:-
- Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Called to the Malaysian Bar with 2-5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in in-house legal and regulatory roles, preferably in logistics, e-commerce, or regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian laws including contract, employment, data protection, anti-corruption, and regulatory frameworks affecting logistics.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficient in Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
